The mobile device industry is advancing at an incredible rate; While years ago we were content with our mobile phone having a camera, today smartphones add such interesting features such as super-powerful processors, spectacular audio systems, next-generation screens …

And so much so, that in recent times a subtype of mobile devices has emerged, gaming, that although like any other smartphone they serve for our day to day, they have a focus with a very clear direction: play on them.

Although we can play on practically the smartphone that we find on the market today, of course. But these devices, which have an eminently gaming reason for being, ensure that we get the best of experiences during gaming sessions.

Because, as happens on other platforms, on mobile we find games of all kinds: some more demanding, others more casual … There is something for all tastes.

Lately we do not stop seeing more and more so-called gaming terminals arrive on the market, from brands that already have families of other gaming devices (laptops, desktop PCs, peripherals, etc.) are practically the ones that monopolize the sector of smartphones from this type.

But what can we consider a gaming smartphone? Very simple: those with hardware designed to get the most out of the most demanding games. So in this area we can find screens with a high refresh rate, sufficiently powerful processor and graphics chip and good heat dissipation, among others.

And yes, practically any phone that meets a series of minimum requirements will be good for us to play most of the titles that we have available on the market. But if we plan to play a lot with our smartphone, it would not be a bad idea to opt for a gaming model, since we will probably get a better experience.
So once we know which sector of smartphones we are referring to, let’s do a brief review about what are the characteristics that we must take into account to assess whether we are facing a good purchase or not.

The first, and one of the most important things, is the screen. After all, it is the means by which we receive the game in question: through the eyes. So here we will have to pay attention to looking for a model that has a fairly large screen, with a good resolution and the highest refresh rates. With 6 inches, Full HD and 90 Hz we are already served, although if we scratch something else in any of these characteristics, the better.

On the other hand, there is the internal hardware of the phone, which as we say has to be powerful enough to move all kinds of games. In this sense, we have to be calmer; Gaming smartphone manufacturers already take this into account, and place special emphasis on equipping them with CPUs and GPUs that are up to the task.

Memory capacities, both RAM and storage, are also important. The first will help us better manage the fact of having several heavy applications open at the same time, such as games. While the second will ensure that we can install a greater number of these. In this sense, from 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage we should not have a problem and be able to play whatever we want.
The battery is another of the fundamental aspects not only of gaming devices, but of any type of smartphones. Nothing bothers more than always having to go with the charger everywhere or running out of battery at noon. So starting at 4,000 mAh, we’ll be fine.

Last but not least (although they are aspects that affect the gaming experience less than the previous ones), we find details such as the cooling system that the gaming phone has; it is very uncomfortable for our hands to be overheated, so if it can be avoided we will appreciate it. And also the auditory section and the connections: we probably play with headphones, so it doesn’t hurt to have a Jack socket. And, in the case that we use the speakers of the phone itself, they sound their best.
