From Korea, we get a report detailing Samsung’s plans for the year that is about to start. Specifically from the news portal ‘ETNews’, which announces that the company will release no less than four folding phones during 2021, divided as follows, two Z Fold and two Z Flip.
All this comes after the news about Samsung’s plan to eliminate the Note series from its product line, which has given such good results, leaving its Galaxy S models for the first half of the year, and the folding models for the second half. .
This would make the Galaxy S21 the successor to the Note, also being that Samsung’s next high-end device will come with support for the S-Pen, so they must have thought that a model that carries it is enough.
So Samsung goes on to focus on the successors of the Fold2 and the Flip, two for each, which for now and until further notice we are going to call Fold3 and Flip2. Of course, each one will come with its different specifications and features, but one thing is for sure, they will all come with 5G support already.
Mass production for these folding terminals would begin sometime in August.
Among the information that comes from Korea, Samsung plans to include support for the S-Pen in the Z Fold3, a detail that many have been asking for since the first, and that is that such a large screen would appreciate a pen to control according to what things.
Unfortunately, this has not been possible until now, since the screens of the folding of those two generations of Galaxy Fold are too fragile to withstand that kind of pressure. To do this, Samsung would have to make the panel somewhat more robust, so that it supports the use of the pen.
And looking further afield, already to the year 2022, ETNews also anticipates that Samsung would be considering entering the world of “roll-up” phones. LG has already registered a name for theirs, but does not yet have a date marked on the calendar for it to go on sale, so Samsung could still be ahead if they get to it.
So 2021 looks to be quite a busy year when it comes to folding phones, but what we all hope is that it is the year that their prohibitive prices begin to drop for those who want to try them.
